A big problem the US and Israeli militaries have is a hyper-focus on the tactical at the expense of the strategic and operational levels of warfare. Case in point superior fighter jets don't mean much when the enemy has enough long range heavy artillery -in this case MRBMs, cruise missiles and attack drones - to knock out the bases those aircraft operate from and you don't have enough aircraft or your own artillery to suppress the enemy fire.
