We are happy to answer your questions on Digital/Mobile Banking
We'd like to start off our discussion today with Banking amidst the ongoing pandemic: How have we seen banks re-organising themselves to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, reduced cash circulation in Nigeria @iSlimfit#FutureofBanking
As @islimfit shares his observations from Nigeria. Perhaps @bankelele you can also chime in on how we have seen the digital banking landscape transform within the last 3 months within East Africa #FutureofBanking
For the minority still stuck with the conventional mode of banking, they have deployed digital touch-points like internet banking, USSD and ATMs to address the current challenge.
It has also given rise to various Fintech solutions that addresses same challenge. #FutureofBanking
@Cellulant@iSlimfit To promote cashless and digital payments, Kenyan banks waived most charges for mobile payments, and mobile to bank transactions. They also restructured ~$3 billion of loans and suspended credit reference listings for 6 months #futureofbanking
@Cellulant We have witnessed a decline in the usage of cash recently. Myself as an example have not dealt with cash for a long period even before the pandemic. Most of the vendors I deal with either have a Paylink or I simply transfer to them, even my Vulcanizer! #FutureofBanking
@Cellulant e-commerce has also been on the rise. As #StayHome is the new norm for most people, they now seek for more convenient methods of purchase without leaving their homes. #FutureofBanking
People have tried previously available services for the first time, as they are now free in this period, such as bank to mobile, sending international remittances via mobile banking, digital loans & digital overdrafts, while making fewer trips to ATM's and agents #FutureofBanking
