@OpinionistNZ It’s actually a stealth inheritance tax. If someone retires mortgage free at 65 and lives 20 years while owning a million dollar property, then 350000 of that property will go to the government, not the kids…more if they were forced to borrow.

This is actually inheritance tax by the backdoor. Elderly people who have worked hard and paid off their mortgage will be forced to pay nearly 2% of the value of their largest asset EVERY YEAR until they die. 20 years on average from the age of 65, 40% (plus interest if they had to borrow). That will come out of the estate. She is a communist.
