Congrats to Jonathan Jost, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Blue Valley High School, on being named the KIAAA Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association AD of the Week!
Jost is currently serving as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Blue Valley High School after spending more than a decade teaching and coaching within the Blue Valley community. A graduate of Olathe East High School, he was a multi-sport athlete who competed in football and track and field before continuing his football career as a tight end at MidAmerica Nazarene University. During his collegiate career, his teams compiled an impressive 41–7 record. He later earned his master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from MNU and a Master of Science in School Leadership from Baker University.
Jost joined Blue Valley High School in 2012 as a math teacher and football coach and steadily expanded his leadership roles over the years. His coaching background includes serving as wide receivers coach, head JV football coach, head boys track coach, and javelin coach. He was part of multiple championship-level programs, including a 5A state football championship team and several 6A runner-up finishes in football and track, before transitioning into administration this school year.
“This is my dream job,” Jost says. “I love serving the student-athletes, teachers, coaches, and community of Blue Valley High School. Being part of the Tiger family is something I am grateful for every day.”
Jost’s leadership philosophy is rooted in service and character development. He believes athletics provide a unique opportunity to teach life lessons, emphasizing growth, accountability, teamwork, and resilience beyond wins and losses. He takes pride in empowering coaches to impact student-athletes both on and off the field while maintaining Blue Valley’s strong tradition of excellence.
Early in his administrative career, Jost says he is most proud of earning the opportunity to lead one of the state’s most tradition-rich athletic programs and looks forward to continuing that legacy. He is especially excited about ongoing facility improvements, including the construction of a new weight room and continued development of Blue Valley’s athletic spaces.
Jonathan and his wife, Heidi, a Blue Valley alum, welcomed their son, Jay, in February of 2025.
Join us in recognizing Jonathan Jost for his leadership and commitment to Kansas school activities! 👏
