No ventilator in that hospital??. That's what Nigerian doctors are made to go through with pittance as pay while corrupt politicians cart away all the money. Which way nigeria???
A doctor reportedly kept a newborn infant alive by manually using an AMBU bag from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., refusing to give up even after others had lost hope. Explaining why, the doctor said the baby was a twin and didn't want his brother to grow up without him, so he sacrificed his sleep to keep fighting for the child's life.
A true act of dedication and compassion. โค๏ธ๐

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ADVANCES SOUTHEAST CANCER SCREENING, REINFORCES HEALTH SECTOR COMPACT AND REFORM ACCOUNTABILITY
Third Zonal Rollout Reinforces Compact Accountability and Health Sector Renewal
Abakaliki, Nigeria | 26 February 2026
The Federal Government has flagged off the Nationwide Free Cancer Screening and Capacity Building Programme for the Southeast geopolitical zone at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AEFUTH), Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, marking the third zonal activation following earlier rollouts in the South-West and North-Central regions.
Under the programme, 1,000 persons in the Southeast will receive free screening for breast, cervical, and prostate cancers, with treatment support provided for those diagnosed.
Flagging off the exercise, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom mni, reaffirmed that the initiative forms part of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Health Sector Strategic Blueprint being implemented through the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative aimed at reducing preventable deaths and strengthening financial protection.
She stated that early detection remains critical to reducing preventable deaths while protecting families from catastrophic health expenditure.
Reinforcing Compact Obligations and Primary Care Strengthening:
In a strategic meeting with the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State and the Deputy Governor, the Permanent Secretary emphasised that health reform requires coordinated responsibility across all tiers of government.
Referencing the Health Sector Compact signed by Ebonyi State, she underscored the importance of aligning state commitments with national reform priorities to optimise access to opportunities under the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative coordinated through SWAp.
She highlighted the role of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in strengthening Primary Healthcare Centres and noted that the National Health Fellows Programme supports all Local Government Areas in driving accountability, data utilisation, and service delivery improvements.
She called on the state to further strengthen Primary and Secondary levels of care as the first two points of contact for patients, stressing that strong foundational systems are critical to sustainable tertiary excellence.
The Permanent Secretary also referenced the recent National Traditional and Religious Leaders Health Summit as part of the Federal Governmentโs strategy to engage states, communities, and grassroots leadership structures in driving reform implementation where it matters most.
Expanding Financial Protection Mechanisms:
The Ministry further highlighted ongoing efforts to reduce the financial burden of care, including the planned Cancer Intervention Fund under the National Cancer Control Plan to be coordinated through NICRAT, as well as a Vulnerable Group Fund designed to cushion catastrophic health expenses.
These mechanisms complement broader financing reforms aimed at protecting families from high out-of-pocket costs while strengthening system resilience.
The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, commended the Federal Government for sustained investments and reforms in the health sector and requested continued collaboration and support to further strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
โWe appreciate the Federal Governmentโs visible commitment to improving health infrastructure and access to care in Ebonyi. We will continue to align with national priorities and strengthen our systems to ensure our people fully benefit from these reforms,โ the Governor stated.
With the Southeast rollout now underway, the 2026 Nationwide Free Cancer Screening and Capacity Building Programme continues across all geopolitical zones, advancing early detection while reinforcing accountability, financing reform, and coordinated health system strengthening nationwide.

The Nigerian senate does not listen to Nigerians. Together with Tinubu their lord and master, they treat all Nigerians with disdain and act with impunity. If only our votes would count, we know exactly what to do to them and those roaming governors come 2027

Make una go nau. After all you all have been bought. If PDP, LP & NNPP could be infiltrated and destroyed, what makes you think ADC could have been spared. Fortunately it wasn't targeted bcos it was seen as a fringe party.
Not all the ADC members are onboard with this coalition movement. I am the face of the ADC and I am not onboard. Most of the ADC members are ready to move to the APC.
