Which was the easiest coup in history?

A few come to mind, but none comes closer to the 29th Feb, 2004 toppling of Aristide.

Jean-Bertrand Aristide, Haiti's first democratically elected president, (code for washington puppet) was toppled on 30th September, 1991, in an operation led by military officers including Lieutenant General Raoul Cédras and exiled to Venezuela.

The Bill Clinton administration unleashed Operation Uphold Democracy in 1994 and installed Aristide back into office.

As they say, to be an enemy of America is dangerous but to be a friend is fatal...

So in the morning of 29 Feb, 2004, then US Ambassador to Haiti, James Brendan Foley, rushed into Aristide's residency declared that he had information that Haiti's army had mutinied and joined arms with the northern rebels and were enroute to capture him, asked him to assemble his family and loaded into a US military plane and 2 days later, dumped in Central Africa Republic.

While he was in transit, the US government released a statement claiming that Aristide resigned under pressure and requested US protection, a claim he later denied.

America and France insisted Aristide was part of the problem, even though they forcefully re-installed him into office.

Following his departure, a US led force deployed under Operation Secure Tomorrow, an operation Aristide was ardently against.
