We successfully concluded the Ogun West edition of our 5th Market Women/Men Support Fund Empowerment Programme, completing this year’s outreach across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's tax reforms are transforming Nigeria's fiscal framework. By streamlining tax administration and removing existing distortions, the administration is generating revenue essential for developing critical infrastructure and promoting national progress.
At our town hall meeting in Ogun Waterside today, we officially flagged off the restoration of electricity to over 50 communities, fulfilling the commitment we made during our recent engagement with APC leaders and stakeholders from the local government.
Another major investment milestone has been recorded in Ogun State as Presco PLC, one of Nigeria’s leading integrated oil palm companies, has concluded plans to establish operations in our state with an initial investment of about $100 million.
This investment further validates the confidence investors continue to place in our administration’s deliberate policies aimed at creating an enabling business environment. Beyond strengthening our agricultural transformation agenda, the project is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, enhance food security, stimulate economic growth, and increase the state’s revenue.
As we continue to implement our Building Our Future Together agenda, we remain committed to attracting strategic investments that will diversify our economy, create sustainable opportunities for our people, and reinforce Ogun State’s position as Nigeria’s preferred investment destination.
We held a strategic leadership meeting of our great All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg) in Ogun State yesterday to deliberate on critical issues that are fundamental to the continued unity, preparedness, and successful performance of our party as we intensify preparations for the forthcoming electioneering period.
Our discussions centred on strengthening our structures, deepening collaboration among party leaders, and reinforcing our collective commitment to delivering another resounding victory for the APC. We remain confident that with unity, discipline, and the continued support of our members and the good people of Ogun State, our party will continue to set the pace for progressive governance.
As we mark this year's Democracy Day, may we continue to uphold unity, peace, and good governance, while working together to build a better and more prosperous Nigeria for all.
Happy Democracy Day!
Fellow Nigerians, 27 years ago, many doubted democracy would survive here because of our diversity. Today, our diversity sustains our democracy. The road ahead is steep. But June 12 reminds us: Nigerians do not break. We bend, we bleed, but we do not break.
Let us renew our covenant: That the labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from this land.
May God bless the heroes of our democracy. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May God continue to bless us all.
Happy Democracy Day.
BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR
President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria
As we mark this historic occasion, let us remain committed to strengthening our democratic institutions, promoting peace and security, and actively participating in nation-building. Together, we can preserve the gains of democracy and build a more just, secure, and prosperous Nigeria for future generations.
This new month is another opportunity for fresh beginnings, renewed energy, and shared progress. I am confident that together, we will witness remarkable impact across our community.
Happy New Month!
STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU (GCFR) ON THE THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF HIS ADMINISTRATION, MAY 29, 2026
My fellow compatriots,
Three years ago, you entrusted me with the sacred responsibility of leading our beloved nation at a defining moment in our history. I accepted that responsibility, fully aware of the magnitude of the challenges before us, but also deeply confident in the resilience and potential of the Nigerian people.
Today, on the occasion of the third anniversary of our administration, I speak to you not only as your President but also as a fellow citizen who understands the sacrifices many families have made in recent years and shares your hopes for a better Nigeria.
When this administration assumed office, our nation faced profound economic and structural difficulties. Mounting fiscal pressures, unsustainable fuel subsidies, declining revenues, exchange-rate distortions, rising debt-servicing costs, insecurity in several parts of the country, energy supply constraints, and declining public confidence in institutions all threatened our progress.
At the height of the subsidy regime, Nigeria was spending as much as ₦18.4 billion daily to sustain petrol subsidies—over ₦4 trillion in 2022 alone—resources that could have been invested in roads, healthcare, education, housing, and critical infrastructure. Multiple exchange rate windows and forex arbitrage created massive distortions, with Nigeria losing more than ₦8 trillion over three years to rent-seeking and speculative practices.
The situation demanded urgent and courageous action. Difficult but necessary decisions had to be taken to stabilise the economy and prevent a deeper national crisis. The easy choices would have been politically convenient. But leadership demands courage, especially when the right decisions are difficult.
Had we refused to act, our nation would have drifted toward fiscal breakdown, worsening poverty, and severe economic uncertainty. Together, we chose reform over ruin and decisiveness over hesitation. We chose long-term national recovery over short-term comfort.
These decisions came with sacrifice. The rising cost of living triggered by our measures placed enormous pressure on families, workers, and businesses. Young people searching for jobs felt discouraged. Many questioned whether these difficult decisions would lead to a better future.
I remain deeply conscious of those sacrifices, and I assure you: your sacrifice has not been in vain. And today, I can say with confidence that Nigeria has stabilised and is moving forward again. Across the country, visible progress is taking shape.
VISIBLE PROGRESS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
Our economy is now more competitive and better positioned for sustainable growth than it was in 2023. Public finances are improving. States and local governments have greater resources to invest in their people. Investor confidence is growing. The stock market is booming, with the All Share Index rising from 53,000 and market capitalisation of N30 trillion in 2023 to a record All Share Index of 250,000 and market capitalisation of N160 trillion this year. Companies are declaring record profits and dividends.
Critical infrastructure projects are advancing at an unprecedented scale. Over 2,700 kilometres of highways and major roads are under construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, the East-West Road, and many rural access roads. Significant sections are already completed or nearing completion, improving transportation, reducing travel time, boosting regional trade, and creating thousands of jobs.
Rail modernisation projects are ongoing to improve connectivity, logistics, and economic integration across the federation.
Today, I celebrate with profound gratitude to Almighty God as I mark my 66th birthday anniversary and seven impactful years of purposeful service as Governor of Ogun State.
The journey over the years has been one of responsibility, sacrifice, learning, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of our dear state. I remain deeply humbled by the trust, support, prayers, and encouragement of the good people of Ogun State whose collective belief in our vision continues to inspire me daily. Together, we have continued to build a more prosperous, peaceful, and forward-looking Ogun State through strategic governance, infrastructural development, economic reforms, and people-centered initiatives.
As I also reflect on my emergence as the All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg) Senatorial Candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District, I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President @officialABAT, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for their leadership, support, and encouragement. I also deeply appreciate Chief Olusegun Osoba, our revered party leaders, stakeholders, members of our great party, my family, friends, political associates, and the good people of Ogun State for their unwavering support, prayers, and confidence in my leadership over the years. I remain committed to continuing to serve with dedication, humility, and the fear of God. May Almighty God grant us greater strength, wisdom, peace, and continued progress as we build a stronger Ogun State and a better Nigeria together.
As part of our continued commitment to protecting lives and securing the future of our children, we have concluded plans to strengthen security across schools in Ogun State through a coordinated multi-agency initiative involving the So-Safe Corps, Amotekun Corps, hunters, vigilante groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other security agencies. This proactive step has become necessary in view of recent security developments in neighbouring states, and implementation will commence immediately across the state.
In addition, we have inaugurated a Direct Impact Committee that will move across communities to identify and address pressing grassroots needs through the provision of transformers, boreholes, solar streetlights, and other essential amenities. We also announced plans to provide monthly financial support to beneficiaries across all polling units in the state as part of efforts to cushion economic challenges and deepen community development.
We sincerely appreciate our religious leaders for their prayers, support, and commitment to peaceful coexistence, which continue to contribute immensely to the peace, stability, and socio-economic development we currently enjoy in Ogun State. Together, we will continue to build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous state for all.
Power remains the foundation of industrialization and socioeconomic development, which is why we launched the Ogun State Light Up Project to ensure energy self-sufficiency across every part of the state.
