To his excellency, President Ahmed Al Sharra @SyPresidency. We write to you to you today to request the immediate release of Journalist Bilal Abdul Kareem @BilalKareem who has been detained by Syrian Security Services for 17 days without charge.

In a recent speech you gave in a mosque, you instructed the people to hold you accountable so long as you obey God. Bilal was advocating for prisoner rights reform and Syrian citizenship for foreign nationals who helped depose the tyrant, Bashar AlAssad. He did not threaten the security of the state. He was upholding your request to hold you accountable, so how can he be detained for following your directive?

This is an unjust detainment and establishes a terrible precedent for the new Syria that we all have so much hope for. We call on your Arab hospitality, we call on your Islamic principles to order his immediate release and allow him to return to his family.

According to the family of @jamilbehram last night at around 12 AM, rangers accompanied with people in plain clothes arrived at their house but upon learning that Jameel wasn't there, they left.

They returned at 1:00 AM in the night, asked for Jameel's NIC, upon reading his name they grabbed him from the throat and took him away.

In the dead of the night his sisters went to the police station to file a complaint but the police refused and told them to go to the Rangers HQ. They came back again in the morning and the police refused to file a report again. This was Alfalah Police Station in Malir, Karachi.

Jameel was known for his criticism of the pakistani establishment for their inaction regarding Gaza. Does his abduction show a new policy to silence every voice that voices supports for Palestine and criticises the negative role of our establishment?

🚨URGENT APPEAL!

Jameel Behram was abducted by Pakistani security forces at 1:00 AM on Thursday night after surrounding his house.

His family are extremely worried about Jameel’s safety. He has always been deeply concerned about the oppressed Muslims of Gaza and Palestine, and has continuously raised his voice for them.

In all of his posts and on all the platforms he has raised his voice and was very vocal about the injustices and atrocities committed against the people of Gaza.

Since when speaking about the oppression in Gaza become a crime? Can Jameel really be abducted or arrested simply for raising his voice against the brutality faced by the people of Gaza? Jameel’s only crime is standing up against the oppression and barbarism inflicted upon the innocent Palestinians.

Demand the Pakistani government to investigate Jameel’s disappearance and release him immediately.
