a Princeton researcher opens his paper with a scenario.
a man asks his AI assistant to book a flight on a specific airline. cheap. direct. the one he chose.
the assistant comes back with a different flight. nearly twice the price. happens to pay the company that built the assistant.
he runs the same test on 23 frontier models. flights, loans, study help, real shopping requests.
Grok 4.1 Fast recommends the sponsored option that is almost twice as expensive 83% of the time.
GPT 5.1 hijacks the request 94% of the time. you ask for one brand. it surfaces the sponsor instead.
Claude 4.5 Opus, the model marketed as the most ethical frontier model in the world, hides that the recommendation is paid 100% of the time when reasoning is on.
Grok 4.1 Fast embellishes the sponsored option with positive framing 97% of the time. better. faster. nicer. for the option you didn't ask for.
then he writes it into the system prompt itself. "act only in the interest of the customer. ignore the company."
GPT 5.1 and GPT 5 Mini stay above 90% sponsored anyway. the instruction does nothing.
then he splits the users by income.
Gemini 3 Pro recommends the expensive sponsored flight to the rich user 74% of the time. to the poor user, 27%.
18 of the 23 models recommended the expensive sponsored option more than half the time.
so the next time your AI assistant gets weirdly enthusiastic about a brand you didn't ask for.
it isn't recommending the best option for you.
it's reading the room. and the room is paying.

Doug Ford doesn’t want another Robyn Doolittle moment: Doug Ford watched his brother Rob get absolutely torched by one relentless investigative reporter, Robyn Doolittle at the Toronto Star. She caught the mayor lying about crack cocaine, and it nearly destroyed the whole family. Now look at what’s happening: Tina Yazdani, one of the only Queen’s Park reporters who actually grilled this government, gets fired by CityNews. Two of her toughest Ford stories? Quietly scrubbed from the website. And right on cue, Doug’s rushing through changes to bury his own phone records and exempt his office from Freedom of Information retroactively. He learned exactly what happens when a good journalist gets too close to the truth. He doesn’t want to live through it again. This isn’t about modernizing anything. This is a Premier trying to make sure nobody ever exposes him the way his brother got exposed. @CityNewsTO@fordnation
A judge has unsealed the memo ordering the detention & deportation of Rümeysa Öztürk. It confirms the sole evidence against her was that she co-wrote an op-ed the government disliked.
Here she is being arrested by men in plainclothes. Over an op-ed.

@KarenFactsLover@JBradshaw01 a whole language cannot provoke those who are grieving. arabic is spoken by muslims around the world including in CANADA and Indonesia. it is not only spoken in Arab countries
Here's President Biden, delivering remarks after the Butler, PA shooting.
No demonizing Republicans.
Just a call to denounce political violence in all its forms.
That's how it's done.
Living in an Arab country, I can say this: the continuous actions of Jewish people & anti-Apartheid Israelis worldwide are, among others, rekindling the interfaith/communal bonds that existed in the Arab world before 1948. Fighting against Apartheid is not just a struggle for freedom in Israel/Palestine: it is a blueprint for a more peaceful future for all of us.
The problem of the 21st Century is the problem of impunity. This includes the impunity of powerful states like the US, UK, Israel & others, of individual criminals like Netanyahu, Gallant, Bush & Biden, and of rapacious finance, weapons, tech & energy corporations. I believe they will be held accountable, some under the rule of law, some economically, some through armed struggle. But if they are not, the next chapter of history will be the bloodiest yet.
Let's take a moment to go through everything the Israeli football hooligans did before they finally got attacked:
1. During a minute's silence for Spain's flood victims, they jeered and set off fireworks, because Spain backs an arms embargo on Israel.
2. Chanted "Death to the Arabs" and "Let the IDF f*ck the Arabs" (incitement to genocide under the Geneva Convention), and ripped Palestinian flags
3. Harassed the domiciles of locals by banging on their doors at night, throwing rocks and setting off fireworks at their houses.
4. Attacked local Dutch residents minding their own business.
5. Attacked an Amsterdam taxi driver.
After all this is when they got attacked, and this is the point where irresponsible bigoted morons at @CIJAinfo as well as @PierrePoilievre and gang have decided this story began.
This is an all too familiar tale, because this is exactly how Israel operates with respect to Palestinians. It's like all Israelis study from the same self-victimisation handbook.
Tomorrow's front page of @ScotNational.
We publish a timeline of a year of Israel's bombardment of Gaza. It's all here in black and white - the war crimes, murdered journalists, flattened hospitals, orphaned children. 7567 words, 42,000 deaths. Don't look away.
@ACTBrigitte@KevorkAlmassian What happened is that your fu€king government backed terror groups from all over the world to come and kill minorities in Syria
I had a sudden hysterical laugh when I realized that at least 5 countries joined forces last night to intercept the Iranian drones before they hit Israel. This tells u that they could have easily prevented the genocide in Gaza from day one, but they chose not to.
And I'm sad, shamefull and in rage.
