A couple of days ago while landing in Mombasa, I tried to catch a clip of our now-closed refinery. I've always thought KPRL was a big facility — I even asked at one point why not revive it.

Today I decided to do a quick comparison with what Al Hajj Aliko Dangote set up in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. The numbers humbled me.

⚡ Own 435 MW power plant

🇰🇪 KPRL (Mombasa):
📐 378 acres (~150 hectares)
🛢️ 80,000 barrels/day (designed)
💧 484 million litres storage
🚫 Refining ceased in 2013

Dangote's site is 16× larger. Let that sink in.

Now here's what really caught my attention — the debate is on Tanga vs Mombasa as Mama Suluhu meets Dangote today. But if the plan is to replicate the Nigeria setup, where exactly is the land in Mombasa?

Our entire Dongo Kundu Economic Zone is 3,000 acres — half the size of the Dangote plant alone.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
