6. I am not sure how the client routes to the api. But proper calls from necessary endpoints should fetch from the sa db. latency fit sup🤗.

7 don't know how viable this is, but if its read the client needs, a read replica in sa might suffice

1 you've got to setup a db in SA; account for necessary vpc and security.
2 vpc peering cross region to your api vpc.
3 dms with script to migrate only client data assuming each client gets its own schema or db inside db.
4: Test connections.

@codewithantonio Like others have said, use AWS Secrets Manager if you can. It’s pretty straightforward and integrates well with KMS.
If that feels complex, AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store with SecureString is a good alternative. Both are good, depending on your comfort level.
