Connecting the Unconnected – Starting with Kura.

As part of our rural connectivity drive to reach 20 million Nigerians currently offline, we partnered with Huawei and Glo to deploy a pilot telecom tower in Kura community, on the outskirts of Abuja — a community of 12,000 people previously without any mobile network.

In just 2 days:
📶 81.4GB of data used
📞 13,144 minutes of voice calls
💯 100% site availability
🌐 5.0Mbps LTE download speed at peak hour

We’ve also extended connectivity to the local health centre and school. With Huawei’s telemedicine and digital classroom equipment, Kura is now linked to global doctors and quality teachers — plus, free community WiFi is now live.

This is what progress looks like — inclusive, impactful, and future-facing.

Today, as I reflect on my time in office as Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, I am proud of what we have collectively achieved over the last one year in laying a foundation for the growth of our digital economy.

The clarity that comes from our Strategic Blueprint, which is in alignment with President @officialABAT’s Renewed Hope Agenda, has allowed us to stay single-minded in our determination to deliver growth in our digital economy through innovative projects, programmes and policies.

As we mark one year in office, I would like to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting me with this responsibility and for his unwavering support. 

To all members of my team, across the @FMCIDENigeria , including all Departments and Agencies under my Ministry, I want to express my sincere appreciation for all your effort to date. 

We have started on a positive note and I will be highlighting some of our current and ongoing initiatives over the last one year to showcase what we have done so far.

I recognise that there’s more work ahead and I am confident that together and with your continued support, we will deliver on our objectives. #NigerianExcellence #BT365Days
