90%?
It doesn't matter if 99.9% did, as it doesn't make it right. It looks harmless, but there is death there.
“Ọ̀nà kan wà tí ó dàbí ẹni pé ó tọ́ lójú eniyan, ṣugbọn òpin rẹ̀, ikú ni.”
Personally I see no big deal in women adding extra money to their children's school fee.
As long as their husbands can afford it.
Growing up 90% of us added extra money to school fees and collected money for books we never bought just because our parents can afford it.
We don’t teach enough about the idols of the heart in the Church today.
There’s a reason why the devil is a great deceiver, it’s because his methods are not designed to be obvious to the watching eyes. What do I mean?
You are a married woman looking for a child for years, you get a child, a great gift from God and then you make that child your God, the condensation of God’s goodness to you. The child takes up your time for devotion, you are now carried away by the cares of that Child. The devil’s work is done. A good gift has taken the place of the giver.
You want to be prosperous, now the money is coming, you are progressing in your career, salary raises, but you don’t attend Wednesday Bible Study again (a self sub), prayer meeting oho, you are okay to play nasty office politics to advance your career, you are willing to take credit for someone’s work, you are happy to backbite to advance yourself, you are comforted that God is with you because your pension is growing, your family is living comfortably, but you’ve made your work and your getting your God. The Devil doesn’t have to struggle too hard with your soul, it’s firmly in his hands.
You are dating and dating and dating, and it’s not because of anything, you just need the sweetness of someone telling you you are their everything, at the expense of a God who already says you are his everything. And so you are having sex outside of marriage as a way to keep this person, you are open to emotionally manipulating them to keep their love… The Devil just needs to keep you on that treadmill of acceptance, his work is fairly done.
For some of us, it’s acceptance, a new friend group you’ve always wanted to be a part of. But they do despicable things, but your need for acceptance outweighs your love for God, you don’t see it. You are happy to now attend raves if it offers you acceptance, you are willing to bend over your values for a few Snapchat pictures. The devil just has to keep giving you that, and raising the bar for your acceptance, his work is done.
We see this scattered all over the holy scriptures. A small detour if you give it time, will become a big one.
We were giving offerings the other day at @ekoreformedch and I don’t remember the exact words @tinobobotweets uses, but they were: we give because money is not our God, because money does not have us.
And you must be reminded, the battle for your soul is quite an easy one if you are not alert. As Jide says it: 12:01 is not 12:00, you just need to give it time.
The gospel that we know is not Jesus and money, or Jesus and affection, it is Jesus alone. Anything else is 12:01.
So when we fight against the prosperity gospel, it’s not because we want you to be poor, not at all. It’s that we know how easy it is for money to replace God especially when that’s already a strong desire of your heart.
Also, for most, the desire for wealth is how they measure God in their lives and so if you can’t see God in your life in times of little or none at all, then there’s a fundamental sickness of the heart. Does it crush you to the depth of your soul when you are poor? Do you ascribe the presence of God as the presence of money? That my friend is the tool of the devil, and he may as well give you the money if he knows you will mistake it for God.
Again, it is not that we will have you be poor, not at all, it is that if God is expendable in your quest for riches, acceptance, love and the likes, then the work on your heart is not yet done.
Have you let go of the idols of your heart? That’s the question that begs answering.
"May your struggles keep you near the cross
And may your troubles show that you need God
And may your battles end the way they should
And may your bad days prove that God is good
And may your whole life prove that God is good"
Christians need to read the message to the church in Thyatira.
Christians need to read the book of Revelation.
Christians need to read the Bible, and chose whether they'll stand with Christ or deny him.
These three things are not hard when we surrender, daily.
I have been sitting with Hebrews 11:10 all week and I cannot get out from under it.
Abraham was looking forward to a city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. This is so explosive to me because I live in Paris, and I have stood in New York. So I know what it feels like to have a city stop you cold.
Paris does something to you. The boulevards, the weight of the stone, the light on the Seine in October, centuries of human aesthetic judgment compressed into every street.
New York is different but equally staggering. Human ambition forced upward into something that became, against all logic, sublime.
But these cities were built primarily by humans and secondarily by God. He created the physical laws that make stone load-bearing. He designed the mind capable of conceiving beauty and executing it across generations. Every boulevard, every skyline, every bridge that ever stopped your breath is the image of God expressing itself through creatures He made and endowed.
And then my mind went to Psalm 2.
“He who sits enthroned in the heavens laughs”.
God looks at Paris, at the Eiffel Tower standing as the pride of a civilisation, at Manhattan lit up at night, at the ancient wonders humans built to chase glory, and
He laughs.
Not in contempt but in disproportion. The laughter of the master watching his students produce their finest work, knowing with the certainty of infinite creative capacity that they have not yet seen what He can do when He builds something Himself.
Humans build cities competitively. Cities are statements. The Eiffel Tower is Paris saying something about France. The Empire State Building is New York saying something about human ambition. Every great city was built to chase glory, to outlast its builder, to make the world acknowledge that something magnificent was made here.
God is the master architect. The builder of reality itself. If humans, made in His image, build to chase glory, what does God build when He decides to build for Himself?
The city whose architect and builder is God has foundations. Human cities crack, erode, and fall. The foundations God lays are not subject to the physical laws He authored.
He is not working within the ecosystem. He is the ecosystem. And when He builds outside it, directly, as craftsman and architect simultaneously, with nothing delegated and nothing held back, the words run out.
Revelation 21 tries and visibly strains. A city whose light source is not installed infrastructure but the presence of God Himself. It does not have light the way Paris has light. It is luminous because God is there, and the two things are inseparable.
Abraham understood this. He walked through the greatest cities of the ancient world, saw what human civilisation at its peak looked like, and called himself a stranger in all of it. He spent his life looking forward to the one God built Himself.
I live in one of the most beautiful cities ever built. Reading Hebrews 11:10 this week I felt, for a moment, exactly what Abraham felt.
Like a pilgrim. Like someone passing through something magnificent on the way to something the magnificent thing cannot prepare you for.
I too am looking forward to that city.
If Paris made me feel this way, I cannot begin to imagine what that city does.
While Nigerian pastors can be bold enough to tell their members who to marry, they are often not bold enough to tell them who to vote for.
It’s funny because, you are taking more risk to recommend who to marry to someone as it is consequential for a life time, whereas, if you are wrong about the choice of the right political candidate, you can always change your mind after 4yrs.
We pray too much and disturb God too much as a people for what common sense can fix.
If the Politicians realise it’s only prayers you will continue to recommend with your influence as a pastor, they will not change but if they reckon that you can mobilise hundreds of thousands of your members to vote against them, they will start to be serious.
If I were God, (obviously I am not and not capable to be), I will give a hard knock to anyone or group of people constantly praying to me for basic stuffs while simultaneously voting for terrible politicians.
This is not about being an opposition, as a matter of fact, the way to do it is to recommend the right people across different political parties.
Every Pastors and serious minded people have enough justification to follow the path of Bishop oyedepo and Paul Enenche in showing maximum anger at the political class given the current situation of things in the nation!
Nigeria is, in many ways, a wicked nation. We are the modern-day Cretans…. loud in confession, shallow in conviction.
We serve Mammon and call it success. Materialism has become our national religion. It bleeds through our weddings, our conversations, our fashion, our lifestyle, and the things we celebrate.
We worship money.
We celebrate noise and discard novelty.
We do not truly hate oppression… we only hate being the oppressed.
And this same mindset has crept into the Church.
True Christianity is countercultural, but what we practice is largely syncretism…. a blend of godliness and greed. Even among us, preachers are not honored for faithfulness but for fame and results. We have not been taught the way of God. We have been discipled by a culture that glorifies wealth and mocks virtue.
The Nigerian man has been taught to idolize money, not value, to pursue luxury, not godliness. That’s why a person dancing for his wages under the sun is mocked, yet a man whose lavishness cannot be traced to honest labor is admired.
And the most tragic part?
The one place that should resist this wickedness, the Church has become its loudest promoter! When “I will not be poor” becomes our favorite confession, we reveal not faith, but fear.
We are the poverty capital of the world, and yet we gather to chant false affirmations. The Christian’s greatest fear should never be poverty…. it should be ungodliness, laziness, corruption, and dishonor to God.
Poverty does not destroy a true believer; it can only refine his faith. Why then should money dictate the quality of our faith?
In my opinion, the voices in the Church must forget endless social debates, marriage seminars, and financial classes, and return to the heart of our call…. preaching the Gospel and righteous living.
We must shake the hands of the wicked politicians only long enough to rebuke them, and celebrate the decent laborers who earn their bread with integrity.
We must stop promoting this “favor” narrative that has no roots in dignity or honest labor. Stop glamorizing people for face-value success and start honoring those who bear the fruit of character.
Stop talking about trends and start talking about Christ.
Fewer prayer campaigns for breakthroughs, and more cries for holiness.
Let’s focus on teaching our divine responsibility to care for our nation, to be responsible citizens, and to labor for the good of mankind. We are being distracted by fruitless conversations. Fools are platformed because we have become a foolish people.
Stop these empty gender-war discussions that profit no one and fix our gaze on Jesus. Expose the charlatans. Have nothing to do with them. And promote sound doctrine once again.
I am not a perfect messenger. I am also a victim of this nation’s wickedness…. a product of its generational rot.
But will I stand and be part of it? No.
I will die striving for godliness. I will fight not to cut corners or bypass righteousness.
I will die honoring God…. in private and in public.
I am still unlearning the fruit of this wicked engineering, still being sanctified from its residue.
But if my message is Christ, then my message is perfect — even if the messenger is not.
May God heal our hearts and turn our eyes once more to His precious Redeemer; Christ alone.
Amen.
If we preach about 'consent' in our churches then we've already decided or assumed that our members are engaging in sexual immorality. So, rather than preach against what God called sin to everyone, we've decided to give people a crutch to lean on as they sin.
Let's be careful.
Many also know that many of their spiritual leaders are compromised but since they are the popular heroes of modern Christianity, they'll remain esteemed and adored in the church space because "you can't attract what you attack"
But I soon toned down when I discovered people were actually deliberately practicing their "corrupt faith" because it profited them and kept their religious empires thriving.
I've seen this in almost every space.
I used to be very passionate about criticizing "pulpit evils" because I thought people were genuinely ignorant or that they were naive and didn't realize that many things done in God's name were against God's character.
Psalms 22:19-20 NLT
[19] O Lord, do not stay far away! You are my strength; come quickly to my aid! [20] Save me from the sword; spare my precious life from these dogs.
.
Behind each coffin is a story, a family, and a dream.
These are not just bodies, but children, parents, siblings, and friends, whose potential and contributions to humanity were tragically silenced by these bloødthirsty démons.
Enough of this Christians cleansing in Nigeria!
Had a lot of people asking where i was today, so i felt like i needed to share on here. This is not a refusal to be a light in dark places…this is a refusal to go on stages and get awards. I already got the greatest award of all time. Hope y’all can understand love you guys 🤍
If you have 4 small kids (unless you have a ton of help) some balls are going to fall, and you have to choose which ones
Some moms will keep their house sparkling clean. Some will make all their families’ meals from scratch. Some will keep up with all their relationships. Some will pray daily and with their kids. Some will stay very fit and in shape
But no one can keep all the balls in the air without help
Don’t feel ashamed about the balls you’ve let drop, just be proud of the ones you’re keeping in the air
And remember the time with small children is a season and one day you’ll get all the balls back up
