Everyone getting excited again about US strikes on Iran.
As per the actual Centcom statement it’s a big round of shock and awe in response to IRGC and to warn them.
In no way does it seem any different than the last few rounds of strikes on missile silos and SAM batteries.
Something I really didn't expect to see in the DIP (defence investment plan) RAF getting a role in Ballistic Missile Defence in Britain, though the details of this are vague at best.
'Mother, I've weighted the risks, which I prefer to living in a world dominated by Nazis. Bill"
Sergeant Bill McDonald, air gunner, RAF. Died 25th October 1942, aged 27.
What a generation.
A better look at the HMT Mk3E carrying the HYDRA hybrid heavy lift drone yesterday at Swindon, by Supacat themselves.
HMT Mk3E is still the only "AFV" Labour has ordered for Army since returning to power (a whole 53 of them), while HYDRA is not part of any program of record.
This is an outrageous, disgraceful smear on John Healey — and an outright lie. There are a ton of ways to finance more for defence — starting with net zero — without taking a penny from schools or hospitals. Reeves should be ashamed of herself for allowing this nonsense. Suggests she’s really desperate.
Whatever anyone says, the DIP will include a substantial uplift in funding. The uplift to 2.5% does not kick- in until 2027, add to that an additional £4bn a year and then map to 3.5% GDP in 2035. That does not mean some things might be cut, but only to prioritise other capabilities.
Re-evaluating the Prevail Partners Multi-Role Vessel (MRV) as a Viable Option for the UK’s Multi-Role Strike Ship Programme
80% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

Introduction
1/25 The Royal Navy and Royal Marines stand at a critical juncture. With fiscal pressures, crewing challenges, and evolving threats in contested littorals, the need for adaptable platforms has never been greater. This thread attempts to examine whether the MoD (through CDS, MSHQ and RN) should revisit Prevail Partners’ Multi-Role Vessel (MRV) concept for the Multi-Role Strike Ship (MRSS) requirement. I try to argue for a pragmatic, rapidly deliverable solution aligned with the Future Commando Force and the Hybrid Navy vision, but mine is only a view with an achievable outcome, not a study that sustains SO’s in their roles and consultancies with a steady income.
Often forget that the Batch 2 Rivers are sizeable platforms. Here’s hoping for some news of a decent replacement (Vanguard from Norway + Kongsberg?) in the DIP.
One optional COA from the DIP is selectively leaked, amplified by the Gammongraph, and echoed by the Tories, now with extra verbiage about uncrewed replacing crewed platforms. When what's really happening is that LockMart is worried about the F-35's future.../1
