In this scene from Season 2 of The Mary Tyler Moore Show (“Some of My Best Friends Are Rhoda,” aired February 26, 1972), Mary discovers a tennis club friend is uncomfortable inviting Rhoda because she’s Jewish. Instead of a big speech, Mary pretends to be Jewish herself and watches the other woman’s reaction shift in real time.

What’s striking is how restrained and precise the writing is. No lectures, no grandstanding — just a clean, uncomfortable reveal of everyday prejudice. The show rarely went near topics this direct, and after this episode they mostly stayed away. Watching it now, the restraint actually makes the moment land harder.

A reminder that sometimes the sharpest social commentary on television didn’t raise its voice.

I am so blessed I was taught to read EVERYTHING. God truly blessed me with my mom.

I read the disclaimers put out by Pfizer, Moderna, etc... and when I saw that big pharma had "qualified immunity" from our government; it told me ALL I needed to know. Reading the fine print saved my life. It also showed me the devil was in the details, literally.

Ironically, when Colorado governor removed Qualified Immunity in 2020. I saw the same thing.

The government was 1. weakening and killing its own people 2. dismantling things from within 3. displaying and virtue-signaling sin for the public like it was a thing to be praised and glorified.
