🇮🇹 Starlink put a video call on a normal 4G phone in the Italian mountains, with no tower and no dish.

Fastweb and Vodafone ran the test with Starlink in Umbria, where the cell signal dies.

The phone switches to the satellite on its own, on the carrier's band, and WhatsApp went through, including video.

No special SIM, and no antenna on the roof needed.

The trial ran for about 3 months and wrapped up at the end of September.

No date yet for when you can buy it, and emergency calls still don't go over it.

The hard part is already done. A phone you already own talked to a satellite, and the video held.
