You’re arguing against something I never said. Saying that modern Palestinian national identity developed mainly in the late Ottoman and British Mandate periods is a historical argument; it is not saying that Palestinian Arabs—or Palestinian children—do not exist. Scholars extensively document the development of Palestinian nationalism during that period.

And describing Jews simply as ‘some Europeans’ is historically incomplete. Jewish history and identity originated in the ancient land of Israel/Judea; Jewish communities later lived across Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere.

None of that makes Palestinian children legitimate targets, and I never said it did. If you want to debate the history, debate what I actually said instead of inventing an argument about me wanting children killed.

Before World War I, most of the people who later became Iraqis, Syrians, Lebanese, Jordanians and Palestinians were Arabic-speaking inhabitants of the Ottoman Empire with overlapping local, religious, tribal and Arab identities. After the Ottoman collapse, Britain and France divided the region into mandate territories, drew new political borders and helped institutionalize the separate states and national identities we recognize today. Those divisions also served European imperial interests, even though local nationalist movements had already begun developing before the war.

In other words , there's no such thing as Palestinians.

I don’t pretend to be something I’m not. I was born and raised in Cuba. Some members of my family were communists; others were not. I know firsthand how the system works and what the Cuban government has put its own people through.

There are countless examples of Cuba’s ruling elite living with privileges ordinary Cubans could never dream of. So where is the ‘embargo’ when they want imported goods, luxury products, or resources for themselves and their families? How is it that they can get what they want, while ordinary Cubans are told everything is unavailable because of the United States?

You’re supposed to be a journalist. Do I really need to ask the questions you should be asking? Instead, everything gets reduced to the same explanation: America bad, Cuban government blameless. That isn’t serious analysis.
