Hilarious moment. Leo had just left a migrant center and decided to walk to greet the crowds. When he finally reached the car, it started to pull away without him in it. He’s like wth. 🤦♂️
Pope Leo XIV flies back to the Vatican aboard an aircraft provided by King Felipe of Spain, following a technical issue that prevented the original plane from departing from Tenerife’s Los Rodeos airport.
“Pope Leo XIV will return to Rome aboard an aircraft graciously made available by His Majesty the King of Spain. The flight is scheduled to depart at around 6:00 p.m. local time and is expected to arrive in Rome at approximately 11:00 p.m. Rome time. The Holy See staff and the journalists travelling on the papal flight will return in the coming hours on a separate aircraft provided by IBERIA.”
The statement published by the Holy See Press Office on Telegram came in the wake of a technical problem that prevented the IBERIA plane set to fly the Pope back to Rome from departing.
The plane took off just after 6.00 pm local time.
Not a single dry eye in Barcelona's Olympic Stadium, where Pope Leo is leading a prayer vigil and responding to questions from young people.
A young woman asked Pope Leo XIV how she could forgive her father after he tried to kill her mother, and where God was when she suffered as a child.
“So many crime reports, even today,
reflect a toxic climate in family relationships marked by abuse and oppression and, in particular, by
violence against women, which unfortunately often leads to femicide. We are all called to address
this dramatic reality, both personally and as a society, because we are responsible for confronting it
in all its dimensions. We cannot attribute to God what has been entrusted to our responsibility; we
cannot imagine that God, from on high, will automatically respond to our needs or miraculously
prevent evil from happening.”
On forgiveness, Pope Leo offered hope:
“We must learn to view forgiveness — that powerful remedy for evil that heals our inner wounds — as part of a process and a journey.”
“This is a long journey and a process that requires great patience.”
It's hard not to be touched by this moment.
After she shares that she once attempted to end her life, Pope Leo holds her in a loving father's embrace while the choir sing, "Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you; whoever has God lacks nothing"... Just beautiful. 🥺❤️🩹
