That’s how many guns NYPD officers seized on Sunday around the Bronx Dominican Day Parade.

No number of gun seizures can ease the pain of losing 12-year-old Jacob Freytes, but the NYPD will continue to do everything in our power to get these deadly weapons off our streets.

Jacob Freytes should be alive today.

Instead, his family is mourning the unimaginable loss of their 12-year-old boy whose life was stolen by senseless gun violence while riding his bike in his own neighborhood.

My heart is with Jacob’s loved ones and his entire community in the Bronx.

I am grateful to the NYPD for their quick action in apprehending the suspect. We must do everything in our power to get illegal guns off our streets, invest in gun violence prevention strategies, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure no family has to endure this kind of heartbreak.

Later today, @NYCMayor's @NYC_DOT will break ground on its Fordham Road bus lane redesign project. Project presented an opportunity to bring real investments to a historically-neglected minority community; and the admin has instead chosen to deliver crumbs. Full statement below:
