Day trip to Islas de Rosario, a beautiful group of 28 islands about an hour off the coast of Cartagena. So many breathtaking islands accessible by boat from Cartagena. We spent the day at the Gente de Mar resort, and it was gorgeous with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters!

Cartagena has some of the most colorful buildings and beautiful doors we’ve seen! The cobblestone streets and buildings remind me of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico! There’s something magical about getting lost among the colorful doors and beautiful plazas.

Exploring the beautiful stone-walled old city of Cartagena! Stone fortresses and gigantic walls surround the city, which protected Cartagena. This was one of colonial Spain’s most important ports and the walls protected it from many attacks in the 16th century.

Marine motifs adorn the doors of families who made their living from the sea. Lions were for leadership and the army. Lizards represented royalty and high society and so on. A sort of sign to let everyone know who lived inside.

Comuna 13 area was once the most violent part of Medellín and considered the most dangerous in the world. Comuna 13 is one of the 16 “communes” or comunas in Medellín. Thanks to its amazing street art, this area has gone through an impressive transformation.

@AshleyTravelsTG The iguana was baked with shredded coconut. It was tasty.
The escamoles were very strange to eat and yet delicious. It was a weird combination of, I can't believe I'm eating this and yum, these suckers are buttery and delicious. Lol
