Dangote to revive Olokola Free Trade Zone in Ondo
The president and chief executive officer of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, says the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ) in Ondo State will be developed into the biggest industrial free trade zone in Nigeria.
Mr Dangote made this known on Monday during a courtesy visit to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Akure.
The businessman announced that the company was returning to the Olokola project after earlier efforts to establish major investments in the area failed for various reasons.
He said the proposed industrial zone would provide critical infrastructure, including power generation, to attract local and foreign investors.
“We are back. What we are trying to do is to build the biggest free trade zone, mainly focused on industries and factories.
“We don’t want investors to be bothered about power. We will generate power and provide the infrastructure. Investors will only need to come and plug in and commence operations,” he said.
Mr Dangote also said the project was designed to stimulate industrialisation, create jobs and boost economic growth in Ondo State and the South-West region.
Princeton University’s Innovations for Successful Societies (ISS) program used to track and curate transformational leadership at the subnational level in Nigeria.
4 Nigerian transformative leaders were featured. Bola Tinubu, Donald Duke, Babatunde Fashola and Ahmed Makarfi.
Donald Duke was far ahead of his time. He saw Tinapa, Obudu ranch, clean and green Calabar, and civil service reforms.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu saw the Free trade zone, Eko Atlantic, Tax and institutional reforms, Judicial reforms, civil service digitization.
Obi had nothing in his mind apart from saving money in his bank, and investing state funds in a family beer business. Nothing transformative up till this day can be linked to him.
The Renewed Hope National Media Tour visited the ongoing Onueke Flyover in Ebonyi State, a ₦35 billion federal infrastructure project designed to decongest one of West Africa’s busiest trade corridors.
The 500-metre flyover, which will soar above the Trans-Sahara Highway upon completion, stands approximately 90 metres high and is complemented by 2.2 kilometres of adjoining roads on both sides.
Speaking during the inspection, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, noted that several strategic South East road projects, conceived decades ago but left unimplemented, are now being delivered under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The National Media Tour is organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team.
The South-East Tour follows an earlier inspection of Federal Government projects in the North-West zone.

The Renewed Hope National Media Tour inspected the ongoing Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Nasarawa–Abuja Super Highway, a major infrastructure project connecting the South South, South East, and North Central regions.
According to the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi “The Trans‑Sahara Superhighway is not just a road; it is an investment corridor that will catalyse trade in agricultural produce like cassava, yams, cashews, and palm oil from Cross River, Benue and Ebonyi, while also connecting Nigeria to Cameroon.”
He noted the concrete road technology pioneered by President Tinubu is now being deployed nationwide.
According to the Minister, the first section of the project has been expanded from 118 kilometres to 123.6 kilometres, while dualisation works are ongoing. The second section, stretching through Benue and Kogi States to Nasarawa, has also been awarded for construction.

Do you really think Peter Obi as president would have gotten the Nigeria tax act passed.?
Do you think Peter Obi as president would have gotten LGA autonomy ?.
Do you think Peter Obi as president would have started the process of fiscal federalism ( that is even if he is ideologically on the same page )?.
Do you think Peter Obi as president would have gotten state police bill over the line ?.
These bills required elite political maneuvering and clout, one that Peter struggles with.
That you are President doesn’t automatically confer the skills required for governing.
Worthy note is that this administration has assented to over 60 bills within 3 years.
