#EmmettTill would have turned 85 today. His lynching was a most brutal example of the sociopathic, vile nature of white supremacist ideology + racism + hate.

Carolyn Bryant Donham‘s lie fanned the flames of hate in the hearts of her husband, Roy, and brother-in-law, J.W. William, who abducted 14-year-old Emmett. They beat and mutilated him before shooting him in the head and sinking his body in the Tallahatchie River. Three days later, Emmett’s mutilated and bloated body was discovered and retrieved from the river.

We will never forget Emmett Till or his mother, #MamieTillMobley, who insisted on a public funeral service with an open casket to expose the world to her son’s bloated, mutilated body. and to the barbarism being inflicted by white people upon Black people in America.

Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley cannot be erased.
