#OttawaOPP and @OttFire is currently on scene of three brush fires along #Hwy417 eastbound between Terry Fox and Eagleson. While the cause remains unknown at this time, a reminder from #OPP not to discard your cigarettes or other flammable objects out the window of your car. Summer season is just starting and we have already seen several brush fires along the highway. It's everyone's responsibility to keep this from happening.

Firefighters were called to a unique extrication Tuesday afternoon after a young child became trapped in concrete at a school in the 200 block of Tartan Drive.
At approximately 4:07 p.m., the Ottawa Fire Services Communications Division received a call reporting that a child had become stuck in the ground after stepping into a concrete hole that had previously been used for a fence post.
Upon arrival, Firefighters confirmed an approximately five-year-old child was trapped up to the knee inside the narrow concrete opening.
Crews quickly went to work, carefully digging around the area to expose more of the concrete before using chisels and a pry bar to safely break away the cement surrounding the child’s leg and foot.
At 4:34 p.m., Firefighters successfully freed the child. Crews then assessed the patient and confirmed there were no injuries. #OttNews
