That was great captaincy from Virat. Super aggressive and always looked for wickets and got wickets too. Rohit didn't do well as a captain imo. Not aggressive enough. It's his style but then spell management wasn't great.

They only had to look after the start of session for bumrah and siraj. Except that everything was easy.
In the England series, no English batter except Joe Root found it easy in the middle against those bowlers especially bumrah or shami kept threatening from one end.

It was all shardul and prasidh(debutant). Ashwin ofc is an excellent bowler but conditions didn't help him much. Shardul looked a little rough whereas prasidh was put under pressure early on. That meant it was easier for the SA batters to score runs at the session endings.

Virat had two strike bowlers in shami and bumrah whereas siraj was just shaping up as a good bowler and shardul was given a new role.

What Virat did was he made sure that from one end there always was a strike bowler bowling. It was either bumrah or shami with siraj for 10-12 overs. Or bumrah and shami with shardul and jadeja. There was never a point in that series where shami or bumrah weren't bowling from ...
