In November 2008, @narendramodi, then the Chief Minister of Gujarat, arrived in East Africa on a trade promotion visit for his state. These were the days when Gujarat’s economic surge was admired locally but not yet exported.
In Nairobi, Kenya, he meets #Raila_Odinga, who immediately gets intrigued by Gujarat’s growth story. Over handshakes and talks, Narendra Modi, in his inimitable style, extends an invite to Odinga to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit of January 2009 in Ahmedabad:
“Come to Gujarat. See it with your own eyes.”
