@FairfieldHalls Bring back a local management trust, run for and by the Croydon arts community. A trust that gives something back to the community rather than taking away.

@FairfieldHalls has been a cash cow for @BHLIVE_UK - milking Croydon tax payers of £millions. @CroydonCouncil must find a local based management company to run the venue for community arts projects. It adds insult to injury to allow @ourfairfield to stand idle.
Absolutely shocked and disgusted by Croydon Council’s shameless exploitation of the local residents and the long-lasting damage inflicted on this unique local venue. There are serious questions about the legality of this process.
Once again, the Fairfield Halls, staff and the local community are cast aside in the pursuit of corporate greed. BH Live have no regard for arts in Croydon. Where is this £2.5million going to be spent??? @BHLIVE_UK@BBCLondonNews@TheStage
Suicide figures are up 200% since lockdown. Could 2 friends please copy and re-post this tweet? We’re trying to demonstrate that someone is always listening.

@BHLIVE_UK pledged to support our community, “underpinned by the determination as a charity and social enterprise, to ensure Fairfield Halls is accessible for all.” @FairfieldHalls is more than just a ‘live’ venue.

Why put @FairfieldHalls into hibernation? We have live streaming, cafes & bars, solo artists in the foyer, cinema & food on the forecourt. If @BHLIVE_UK have no interest then let’s find a local community trust that care about Croydon. @TheStage@yourcroydon@CroydonGuardian
There’s a take away cafe and room for live steaming of concerts, events plus income from allowing resident companies back in to the building. Why mothball it and have to start again? @TheStage@FairfieldHalls@oliverjlewis

The internal digital screens have been removed from @FairfieldHalls The government must rescue our theatres and venues. We need a council-led intervention. It’s time BHLive hand Fairfield back to the community Arts, music & culture must survive in Croydon. @OliverDowden
@brickbybrickldn@FairfieldHalls @micaarchitects @yourcroydon@RIBA BHLive should hand back the venue to Croydon Council and allow a trust to run it. Phoenix Pianos informed us that the pianos were taken back due to non payment of contractual hire charges. A world class venue needs at least one piano.
@timothygodfrey@FairfieldHalls@BHLIVE_UK My concern is that we have a world-class concert hall, but we have to hire pianos. With BHLive staff furloughed who is there to run the Halls and sign the lease? Who is in charge of the Fairfield Halls?
Very sad to see the removal of pianos from @FairfieldHalls this morning. Can Fairfield be a leading cultural venue without them? What is the future of the Phoenix Piano Academy? What will happen once venues reopen? Does our Fairfield need saving again? @BHLIVE_UK
@timothygodfrey@FairfieldHalls@BHLIVE_UK Sports and cultural venues are indeed vital to the wellbeing & mental recovery of our country. We need our operator to understand the cultural needs of Croydon. There are ways Fairfield can still reach the audiences during these dark times.
