i remember people being annoyed at dawnwalker because "it's a generic male mc once again" just for coen's gender actually being important to the story in ways male main character's gender usually isn't

there are a lot of other things that can be mentioned and discussed but all in all i think it's very refreshing that a game is ready to do smth new with male character's gender instead of making him another jaded hero or not make his masculinity affect him and the world at all

he also contrasts a lot of male npcs by being openly emotional in ways that are not considered "manly", he can cry, fall on his knees, scream not in anger but frustration and despair. you rarely see male characters do that
