There’s a typo in Focus: Shine On (formerly Caring Hands) has moved to *St Gabriel’s* church - full contact details below. Apologies for any inconvenience. Shine On tell us that the laundry is remaining in Shieldfield and will soon be modernised.

Tomorrow, vote Fiona Punchard in the Ouseburn Ward local elections and get a *team* of three Lib Dem Councillors working hard for you (all year round and not just at election time…) for the first time since 2011!
Heard tell of lots of cars getting broken into on Hotspur Street by a pair using a device that opens the locks remotely. Worth removing all items of any value and keeping keys away from front door.
@NewcastleLabour plan for High Streets in #Newcastle is to double the rent on @NewcastleCC owned commercial properties, forcing long established businesses to close in #Heaton.
But they'll offer £25k grants to new businesses that take over the now vacant units.
Great to hear from some local residents about the #LTN today. Lots of anger that it's coming out
Of course it's not always the loudest voices we listen to.
Sometimes some of the most important residents have the quietest voices, or aren't heard at all.

Yes, traffic using the back lanes was a real problem – as we’ve been banging on about for months – but a fixable problem - that was the whole point of an experimental process, but the right measures were not implemented at the right time.
This is an absolute farce. @ouseburnlibdems have been demanding sight of the consultation for over a week, but we learn this decision from the press. The LTN needed fixing, not being ripped out, and many local residents will be furious as the commuter traffic returns.
@salawatson@psimonk@PhyllBuc@crisortunity@NewcastleCC And then it'll be just like the streets on either side, the Shakespeare terraces were filtered years ago, as were the numbered avenues on the Chilli Road side of Heaton Road as part of a General Improvement Area.
Why can't this neighbourhood be improved?
One end of Heaton Park View between #Heaton and the local park has been closed as part of an #LTN, making the trip to the park significantly safer for kids. We don't want a return to a 3000 car a day rat run! If you agree, and live in Heaton, read this:

Huge thanks to the Highways team from @NewcastleCC who are continuing to get the pavements around the Ward repaired after the recent broadband installation works.
Including this particularly bad patch on Heaton Park Road, which I reported after our recent Ward Walkabout.
Can I just remind residents that if you live in an area covered by Communal or Shared Bins, if you put your #recycling in a plastic bag, the Bin Collection team will assume it's now a contaminated bin and stop emptying it.
Please, don't put plastic bags in the recycling bins.
♻️ Recycling your small electrical items has just got easier thanks to a new council service.
You can book online to have your broken or unwanted electricals, such as toasters and chargers, collected from your doorstep.

Fantastic to be invited, alongside @GarethKaneLD, to the @FarrellCentre today to meet the team from @ReeceSTEM to discuss the Ouseburn Way project.

Really interesting vision, which I hope we can support and work with where appropriate.
