@WHLeavitt@PeteHegseth Absolutely! If she is stating publicly that she will refuse lawful orders of her superiors, get her butt out immediately.
A strong military is a deterrent against bad actors. Having people openly declare they will not follow orders emboldens the bad guys.
@QueenAnticommie Well, really never. You gotta step back and let them stand on their own two feet, be their own person as an adult, you can't keep them a kid forever. But you never stop. Parenting is a life time commitment
Okay, I got to stop you here. While Doc was not an MD, he was more than qualified for practically any medical issue that came up. Senior and master chiefs with years of experience, and very well trained.
Corpsman on one of my boats served as a medic with the Marines in 'Nam. (this was 1980's) fixing up battle wounds under fire. Real world experience that thankfully MDs don't get. Granted, the worst he had to deal with were a few scalp cuts, the fact he did not have a diploma from college meant nothing.
@Sierra_rak Socialism and it's compatriots (fascism, nazism, communism and progressivism) are feudalism with more modern ad copy. Rulers at the top exempt from the rule they impose on others
@JoelFeldmanPhD Grandpa was Air Force, Dad was Army, my wife and I both served in the navy. Several of my uncles were Army, and my wife uncle was a Marine.
Why? The US is something worth protecting and defending. It is the best country on Earth
Lived in Cali for almost 40 years. Now live in Texas.
California: beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, crazy people and stupid politics, very expensive
Texas: Okay weather, Beautiful scenery, very nice people and less insane politics. Everything is bigger in Texas except the prices.
I am an idiot.
I am very new to X/Twitter, and know there are some famous folks on here. But there are also people who will pretend to be famous, or pretend to work for the famous in order to con you.
Last night I got a phone call from Elon Musk. If you look at my replies, some would call me a bit of a Musk fan. So when I got the call, I was initially skeptical at first, I am literally a nobody. But he did a video call and the person at the other end looked and sounded like Elon. Whether this was some fancy AI filter or someone doing a very good impression, I donโt know. In any event, I fell for it. 1/7
โElonโ tried to get me to buy SpaceX stock, which I would love to do anyway. Not for the financial return, but because I am a space nerd, and a big fan of Elonโs dream. In order to do so, โElonโ spent several HOURS trying to assist me through the process of buying bitcoins in order to buy stock. Yes, NOW I know how stupid this sounds, the worldโs richest man who is CEO of 4 companies calling up some nobody and spending hours of tech support. We went through the downloading and setting up accounts on 3 different apps before I realized how much time had passed and just how ridiculous the whole situation was. 2/7
โElonโ also asked me to set up a Signal Chat app. Which should have been the first red flag. Why would the owner of the platform want to talk to me on a competing platform? Later, I realized that the account he was posting from did not have a blue check. He explained this away by saying it was his secret account, that his people monitor his public account. 3/7
It started on X when I was told, (via Xโs chat thingie) I had won a viewing to a Starship Launch. Responding to that chat led to the video phone call, which was convincing. โElonโ was driving at the time, and I started to ask about that, then realized I am talking to the guy who makes self driving cars. 4/7
I also had 2 other Elons tried to contact me, all telling me the others were frauds. I also had a chat with Mom, who claimed to be Elonโs mother, and talking to her son. She even sent me a couple of voice files that sure sounds like the new trillioinaire. There was also a gentleman who claimed to work for Elon, โsafeguarding his digital identityโ None of these accounts were check-marked. All of them wanted to talk on Telegram or Signal, not on X itself. Also, this morning, another Elon was trying to call me from someplace in Massachusetts on my phone. This is possibly the same Elon I talked to last night, although the phone number was drastically different. 5/7
Fortunately, I am computer illiterate enough and my bank has transaction limits so they did not get any money. Afterwards I did kill my credit card and will have to go down to the bank tomorrow to replace it. I dumped the Signal and Telegram apps, as well as the 3 purchasing apps โElonโ walked me through setting up. It was flattering to think someone like Elon would want to contact a nobody like me, and they tried to use that against me. 6/7
Lessons Learned:
1) No Blue Check, the person is a likely a fraud and not someone famous.
2) If they want to talk to you on another app, bail.
3) They start talking financial stuff, bail. 7/7
