Welcome to semester 4 of The Bahamian Citizenship Test!
Our first question of the semester was:
If you had to debrief the first act of a film to a fellow thespian during intermission, who would it be?
A) Esther Rolle
B) Harry Belafonte
C) Cab Calloway
D) Roxie Roker
Your Hint: Like a bridge over troubled waters 👀
To understand today’s question, you needed to know the name of the bridge linking New Providence to Paradise Island: the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge.
Early in his career, Sir Sidney Poitier and his best friend couldn’t afford two tickets to the cinema. So they came up with a creative solution: one would watch the first half of the film, then during intermission debrief the other on everything that had happened so far. After the movie ended, they’d piece the full story together.
That best friend? B.) Harry Belafonte.
So, how did you do? How did your friends — and your house — perform?
Jump in the line, and we’ll see you tomorrow for Question Two of Semester 4!
Since we’re talking about Bimini today don’t forget that Biminites are in an active fight to save their mangroves, their land.
