@MrBruffEnglish I remember having a massive amount of choice about which poems to teach. Six core ones they had to know and free reign to teach as many of the others as you could. The compulsory 15 has killed so many students' love for poetry.
@dnleslie Not only could I, but I'd much rather do it that way! Besides, the point isn't what's on the board and what you're doing, but what the students are doing. And they get more done if they don't have to sit reading PowerPoint slides that rival Dickens in length.
@tennisontelly YouTube is the place to watch. @Channel4 cut to swimming with Alfie at 15 all serving for the match. With about four seconds to scan a QR code to see the rest, which meant no one watching on TV actually saw it. I'm so cross!
@mrs_denglish A lot of schools now opting for GCSE selection at the end of year 8 as well, which means narrowing the curriculum before they've barely even got started.
@LottoGoodCauses@Aquatics_GB@adam_peaty Amazing to think what lottery support and all the other progress has done for British success in the pool since that was written.
@LottoGoodCauses@Aquatics_GB@adam_peaty You've come a long way since 1969...
My mum gave me the programme containing this article from Martyn Woodroffe today, because that's my late dad as a junior on the front cover (visible between the Queen and the ASA President) at the Crystal Palace centenary gala that May.
@mrs_denglish Great role model. The "if you dream big enough and work hard enough you'll make it" narrative is kind of dangerous. This sensible perspective from someone who clearly tried her heart out is refreshing and important, especially for young people.
@BarclayCard18 Can't share publicly because music (shhh) but you might like this I made recently. Difficult few months for tennis fans.

Just heard @bigdaddybunce on Radio 5 #bbcolympics and was really moved by his compassionate, nuanced and sensitive defence of the two boxers being targeted by so much controversy and disgusting speculation. Great passion and great punditry.
