On this day in 2011, President Obama certified the military was ready to end βDonβt Ask, Donβt Tellβ which prohibited LGBTQ+ people from serving openly in the US Military.
The repeal took effect on September 20, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of equality.
By a vote of 5-0, the City of Lawrence, Kansas is now a sanctuary city for LGBTQ+ folks in response to the stateβs passage of anti-LGBTQ+ laws!
A huge shout-out and thank you to the folks on the ground who helped make this happen. I felt a little under the weather after today, so I watched the vote here at home in Kansas City.

Today's Supreme Court ruling has dealt a blow to LGBTQ+ rights, allowing businesses to discriminate against our community. But we refuse to be silenced or diminished.
