Honestly, I have no idea about the transaction volume yet.

What I find really powerful in this news is something else: Siemens has decided to use an identity architecture that includes DLT:IOTA in order to comply with the upcoming EU Digital Product Passport regulation.

For now, the press release confirms it in SIRIUS 3RW5-Z R11, which is a refurbished industrial soft starter used to start large electric motors smoothly (pumps, conveyors, compressors, HVAC, etc.).

Each unit has a QR-based ID Link for lifecycle traceability, and the data architecture behind it uses AAS + DLT:IOTA.

Now think bigger.

Siemens manufactures roughly ~30–70 million industrial devices per year (electrical protection, drives, motors, automation equipment, building infrastructure components, etc.). If Digital Product Passports expand across their portfolio, the potential scale becomes enormous.

This is why the press release matters.
