As a 10-year-old studying Uganda's political history, I often wondered how my late father - a remarkably tough man - survived as a young professional during the brutal regime of Idi Amin. When power dynamics evolve in ways that defy conventional logic, textbook idealism must yield to strategic endurance.

Life, and the unfolding trajectory of our nation, have challenged me in equal measure. The tusks make sense now.
