The Inspector General of Police, @igp_ug1 , this afternoon addressed a meeting of Local Government and City leaders organised by the Ministry of Local Government at Imperial Hotel, Kampala.

In his remarks, the IGP urged the leaders to support and take ownership of policing initiatives, particularly the Sub-County Policing Model, noting that effective policing requires strong partnerships between the Police and local leadership.

He called upon the leaders to work collectively to enhance service delivery and to ensure that security considerations are integrated into all development planning and implementation frameworks.

The IGP further urged local governments to prioritise security in urban planning by designing well-structured urban layouts, approving building plans that incorporate safety measures, and constructing markets with anti-crime infrastructure. He noted that this approach aligns with the Area Policing Concept currently being rolled out across the country to enable a faster and more effective response to crime and emergencies.

He emphasised that close collaboration between the Police and local governments is essential in addressing emerging security challenges, including agricultural crime, urban crime, domestic violence, cybercrime, alcohol and drug abuse, and land-related conflicts.

The Inspector General of Police concluded by thanking the Minister of Local Government, Hon. @BalaamBarugahar , for the opportunity to address the leaders and reaffirmed the Uganda Police Force's commitment to working closely with local governments to promote peace, security, and sustainable development.

Presided over by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, I led the Ministry of Health's delegation during the official unveiling of the National Ambulance Dispatch Centre at the Social Health Authority (SHA) Headquarters in Nairobi, a landmark milestone in the implementation of the Taifa Care Model and the transformation of emergency medical services in Kenya.

The Centre establishes the country's first centralized emergency medical dispatch system, coordinating ambulance services across all 47 counties through the SHA 922 Lifeline.

Powered by advanced digital technology, it enables rapid ambulance deployment, real-time coordination, clinical triage, seamless communication between emergency responders and health facilities and faster access to life-saving care.

Already, over 200 Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)-accredited ambulances have been integrated into the platform, with more public and private providers expected to join as the network expands.

Operated by a multidisciplinary team of specially trained emergency response professionals, the Centre will strengthen referrals, reduce response times and improve patient outcomes nationwide.

The occasion also saw the flagging off of seven advanced ambulances equipped to deliver Level 6 referral hospital-equivalent emergency and critical care services.

The ambulances have been deployed to Nairobi, Wajir, Turkana, Lamu, Mandera, Nyeri and Kapenguria, further strengthening access to timely, coordinated and quality emergency care across the country.

Hosted by the CEO of the Social Health Authority (SHA), Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, the launch brought together national and county leadership, including Principal Secretaries Dr. Ouma Oluga (Medical Services), Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards), Eng. John Tanui (ICT and the Digital Economy), Director-General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth; Nairobi City County Governor, H.E. The Head of the RDC Secretariat and Anti-Corruption Unit in the Office of the President, Maj. Martha Asiimwe, has reaffirmed government's commitment to strengthening service delivery, fighting corruption and accelerating socio-economic transformation across the country.

Maj. Asiimwe made the remarks during a government monitoring and mobilisation exercise in Amuria and Kapelebyong districts, alongside the Regional Commissioner for Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) in Eastern Uganda, Col. (Rtd) Dhamuzungu Oguli.

The engagement is part of a nationwide programme aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and effective implementation of government programmes while ensuring that citizens benefit from available development initiatives.

Addressing local leaders, civil servants, security agencies and members of the public, Maj. Asiimwe conveyed greetings from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and called for unity, accountability and improved service delivery following the 2026 General Elections.

"We are not here to decorate offices. We are here to ensure services reach the last person in the village," she said.

She urged leaders to work together across political, technical and security structures to deliver quality services and support government's development agenda anchored on peace and security, infrastructure development, wealth creation, job creation, improved service delivery, market access and regional integration.

Maj. Asiimwe encouraged communities to embrace wealth creation programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, while calling for close monitoring of public infrastructure projects, quality education, youth empowerment and skills development.

She also warned against corruption, including the misuse of public funds, theft of medicines, absenteeism and poor supervision of government projects, stressing that public resources must serve their intended purpose.

"Our goal is to build a growing economy that is also free from corruption. Government programmes are not favours; they are the rightful entitlement of every Ugandan citizen," she said.

The monitoring exercise forms part of the Office of the President's ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, improve public service delivery and support Uganda's socio-economic transformation.
