Imagine sending your 12-year-old to a friend's house and she never makes it home the same.

Three boys in Miami have been charged as adults in the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl. Nelson Nunez, 13, Jusiah Jones, 12, and Xavier Tyson, 15, were indicted by a grand jury on February 25 after originally being arrested on juvenile charges. Jones and Nunez were ordered held without bond.

The incident occurred on June 18, 2025, in Miami's Overtown neighborhood. The victim was walking home from a friend's house when Nunez allegedly grabbed her and dragged her to a couch inside a community garden. Tyson and Jones reportedly held her down while Nunez assaulted her. When she screamed, Jones allegedly shoved rocks in her mouth. The attack reportedly lasted around 30 minutes and only stopped when the boys heard her father calling her name.

A fourth boy present told police he did not intervene because he was outnumbered. All three suspects and the victim were neighbors.
