@iamtomskinner You’re a great inspiration Tom keep going.
I know you’re not keen on University, would love to change your view on that, but I reference you in teaching marketing, you’re a great example - market offer, product, price, promotion
My students would love to hear from you!
@aroundliv Haha. Not local and had a meeting centrally and sat nav wanted me to take that turn, Sat nav said yes, head said no thanks. Thought it was some sort of maintenance entrance 😂
@henrywinter You’re a great writer Henry. I miss the days of watching you, others and Brian (RIP) on Sunday Supplement - so much more insightful than banter telly we get now.
Keep up the good work 👏
Your social media followers won't convert into customers, but they can if you try posting these 5 types of content:
1. Demo - showcase doing something using your product.
Example: If you sell a cooking product, use it while making food.
2. Case study - showcase the results of using a specific service.
Example: This is what happened to your sales once you started using SEO.
3. Lives - interact with people in real time, ask them questions, help them, and pitch them on your product or service.
4. Educational content - educate, but include a CTA to sell your product or service.
Example: I create content teaching SEO, but I will mention if you want my team to do it for you, hit up my ad agency, NP Digital.
Example 2: Here's how to make the most delicious chocolate cake... show them step by step, and then tell them they can buy the products you used from your site.
5. Webinars - broadcast live on all your social platforms using platforms like Restream, educate, and then sell at the end.
You can even generate webinar signups by promoting the webinar to your audience beforehand.

People talk about how amazing social media marketing is, but the data shows otherwise.
We looked at analytics for 10,000 sites. Check out this data…
Organic social media traffic, on average, makes up 6.38% of a website's traffic.
SEO traffic, on average, makes up 49.04% of a website's traffic.
For the sites with conversion tracking setup, organic social media traffic only comprised 1.59% of their sales.
SEO traffic made up 56.11% of their sales for the same sites.
Organic social media traffic, on average, is declining by 1.98% per quarter.
Organic SEO traffic bounces around a lot due to algorithm updates, but on average, sites saw an increase in traffic by 2.57% in the last 12 months.
Now, let’s look at the paid data…
Search ads made up 9.02% of a website's traffic on average.
Paid social traffic made up 4.72% of the traffic on average.
The average return on ad spend for paid search traffic is 352%.
The average return on ad spend for paid social was 288%.
Does this mean social media is a waste of time?
Of course not… but just because people spend the most time on a specific channel, it doesn’t mean it’s better.
To give you context, people spend 2 hours and 23 minutes a day on social media, according to Data Reportal, and 15.4 minutes a day on search, according to Statista.
Nonetheless, use all marketing channels.
But just because one channel is sexy doesn’t mean it performs better.
