@PancakeNation12@RABBIT_1419@dauzlee04 Modern nuclear subs are quieter than WW2 subs while being many times as heavy and having effectively infinite submerged performance by comparison.
@PancakeNation12@RABBIT_1419@dauzlee04 Only modern ones, and they still make a lot of noise in absolute terms, but they are quiet enough to be difficult to detect.
WW2 subs were very loud and had terrible submerged performance which made them extremely vulnerable to even the crude ASW of the time.
@PancakeNation12@RABBIT_1419@dauzlee04 In addition to being loud, WW2 subs were also tiny and had zero submerged speed or endurance.
Allied airborne microwave radar later in the war resulted in U-boats getting absolutely slaughtered, never mind modern ASW equipment.
@PancakeNation12@RABBIT_1419@dauzlee04 Random unsourced graph not from what I linked lmao.
Got an RPM vs. speed chart for your unlabeled and hence meaningless data?
@PancakeNation12@RABBIT_1419@dauzlee04 They also have vastly better sensors, are much more reliable, and can actually operate submerged for long periods of time at relatively high speed.
WW2 subs were made obsolete by advances in allied ASW that happened in WW2.
@PancakeNation12@FrostLegion860@CentristMillen1 No.
Also, imagine being such a clod of ignorant dirt you can't read a simple article with dB figures and see WW2 diesel subs were much louder than modern nuclear subs.

@EraShy072@exiledDuelist You seem to be under the mistaken impression that you can block me on my website, little westoid internet being.
I'm here to disabuse you of the notion, and I will stop being nice if you try again.
@GuyYoung436461@BurnerOwen@JB02996107@AndreiBtvt Armor is certainly still useful for stopping blast, fragmentation, and guns. Stopping HEAT and EFPs just isn't practical when they can come from any angle.
@GuyYoung436461@BurnerOwen@JB02996107@AndreiBtvt To go back to stand off: ERA works by impacting the HEAT warhead before it finishes forming a jet, greatly reducing penetration. Simply increasing the stand off a bit defeats ERA at the cost of moderate penetration loss. Moderate loss is fine when not targeting frontal armor.
@GuyYoung436461@BurnerOwen@JB02996107@AndreiBtvt I already said that it could be done.
Random idiots on the street aren't capable of writing the software you are proposing, it actually isn't easy to do at all. At some point everyone smart enough to write such software is smart enough to see it's pointless.
@GuyYoung436461@BurnerOwen@JB02996107@AndreiBtvt Against a weapon capable of getting a square hit on top of a tank (a comically low bar these days, but still rarely met reliably), tanks almost might as well be unarmored, which is the issue.
@GuyYoung436461@BurnerOwen@JB02996107@AndreiBtvt A bunch of times in Lebanon and Gaza and possibly in Ukraine as well.
The record is far from perfect even against the RPGs they were designed to stop, hard to say exactly how imperfect.
