I’m saying even if that noise that happened at the same time as the kick was a gunshot, the cadence of the shots picked up dramatically after the door was opened, and no one was hit until AFTER the door opened.

@AsuzuReincarnat I read a version where they had a more extended battle. At some point, Harry ends up tripping and that’s when Malfoy tries to cast Crucio but stops. Harry panics and cast Sectumsempura, which makes sense since it is supposed to be a spell he doesn’t understand and panic cast.
