I’ve been asked many times the genesis of the benevolentbjs project. This clip, from the archive (and is also in the library of content on the website), is my very first attempt at highlighting the importance of these men captured on video.

Man, what a fuckin’ learning experience of epic proportion.

It is was a study to me of how *not* to talk these guys and how it’s more important to listen to them than to pitch.

Here was a squeegie guy at the intersection near my hotel in Philadelphia.

He was aggressively trying to clean car windshields of people stopped at a red light, whether the driver wanted it or not.

When I tried pitching him, the more he said “Fuck Off!, I'm not a fuckin' queer”, the more I offered him to participate.

I didn’t know that the key to working with these men really was to more listen than to talk.

Finally, with in an anger, he slammed his squeegee to the pavement with such force that it shattered, saying "there, you fuckin' happy now, I'll fuckin' do it, OK?".

The camera guy was scared shitless, couldn’t keep the camera straight and the video capture is just awful quality, but again, this was a first effort a while back.

I learned a lot about myself, too, as I’m not proud of this encounter but it is what it is.

This guy defined toxic masculinity. He had a hardwired sense of superiority because he's straight.

Still, he pulled down his pants and I managed to suck the dude’s dick and lick his asshole.

He took a piss in my mouth.

The crude artistry of the smiley face tattoo on his abdomen spoke to what a complete and total douchebag he was.
