This is completely misleading. First of all Australian $3 is not Rs 290. It is about Rs 206. First learn currency conversion before doing international economic comparisons.

Second, Australian petrol prices move in cycles. Prices spike, then fall. The video is likely showing a cycle peak, and probably 98 RON premium fuel, not ordinary commuter petrol.

Third, and most important: the average Indian regular salaried worker makes around Rs 20,000/month. The median Australian employee makes equivalent of more than Rs 5 lakh/month. So even if Petrol was two or three times more expensive in Australia (which it is not), an Australian earning in Australian $ could very well afford to absorb the price shock much better than an average Indian.
