This baby is "NOT Babbling"That very act is a unique type of convulsion in babies.

It is called INFANTILE SPASM, also called West syndrome, is a serious type of epilepsy that usually starts between 3 and 12 months of age.

It does not always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like: • sudden bending of the head forward
• brief jerks of the arms or legs
• the baby folding like a “jackknife”
• repeated nodding movements
• sudden stiffening of the body
• clusters of jerks especially after waking from sleep

Each episode may last only 1–2 seconds. But they often come in clusters, one after another, like hiccups of the brain.
Many parents mistake it for colic, reflux, startle reflex, or “baby stretching.” That delay can cost the child precious brain development time.

WHY IS IT DANGEROUS?

Because infantile spasms can affect brain growth. A baby who was smiling, rolling, or babbling may suddenly stop gaining new skills or even lose previously learned milestones.
Red flags to watch for:

• Repeated jerking in clusters
• Spasms happening daily
• Loss of milestones
• Poor eye contact
• Unusual stiffening episodes

This is a medical emergency.

Do not wait. Do not pray it away. Do not treat it at home.

Run to the hospital immediately for evaluation.

Doctors will perform an urgent EEG brain test and start treatment quickly if confirmed.

The earlier treatment begins, the better the chance of protecting your child’s brain.

Also had severe preeclampsia & it was detected at 33 weeks, I was booked for an emergency cs.
