What makes HAIWAAN work is the confidence with which #Priyadarshan approaches its thriller material. The filmmaker creates a world where tension comes as much from silence and anticipation.

#AkshayKumar is terrific in the film. There is an unpredictability to his character that makes every appearance feel dangerous.

He avoids making the darkness superficial and instead gives the character layers that make the menace considerably more effective.

#SaifAliKhan is equally impressive. His restrained performance gives the protagonist an emotional quality, while his physicality and expressions communicate plenty without unnecessary dramatics.

Late actor #Asrani proves his mettle in what marks his last on-screen appearance. The other actors of the ensemble #BomanIrani, #SaiyamiKher, #SharibHashmi get their moments to shine.

HAIWAAN ultimately succeeds because all its departments work toward the same goal. The result is an entertaining and atmospheric thriller which is now playing in cinemas.

HAIWAAN is a fascinating combination of performances, atmosphere and old-school thriller storytelling.

#AkshayKumar as a cold-blooded villain exudes danger from every sweat and displays remarkable ease in an otherwise complex character.

This is a fair departure from his previous collaborations with #Priyadarshan.

#SaifAliKhan brings remarkable control to his role. There is vulnerability in his portrayal, but he never allows it to become sentimental. His expressions and body language do much of the storytelling.

This is a meticulously crafted thriller that feels like a breath of fresh air from a filmmaker who attempts the genre for the first time in the Hindi film landscape.

The way the director crafts an atmospheric face-off between the hero and the HAIWAAN is what makes the film a stunning watch.

After the success of #BhoothBangla earlier this year, the duo of Akshay and Priyadarshan seems to have made another winner together. A hatke experiment indeed that has arrived in cinemas today from September 11 onwards.

#HaiwaanReview: CAPTIVATING THRILLER!

RATING - ⭐⭐⭐✨3.5*

#AkshayKumar transforms into a full-time #Haiwaan and surprises with his psychologically challenging character that has dark shades with mental elements attached to it. The opening scene and the climax scene is where he steals the show and makes you believe in the evil that he portrayed on the screen.

The film has a classy framework – a top-class cinematography – that deserves all the praise along witha superb background score.

The storyline has a #CapeFear touch and there is a lot of emotional boosting for #SaifAliKhan's character, who has done a decent work. The screenplay picks up a solid pace in the second half during those cat-and-mouse chase sequences. The ending feels fulfilling and there is a surprise cameo in the end and it's a pleasant one!

#Priyadarshan shows his capacity as a versatile director by handling the thriller genre with enough care and delivers a good thriller with nail-biting moments that completes all the angles. Overall, a fine thriller that you should watch this weekend with your family.
