This story is ludicrous, parodic & not newsworthy. The offer lapsed a year ago when I declined it coz I wasn’t consulted. And so, I didn’t take oath or occupy the post to be sacked. Since the post went vacant, it should’ve been offered without this much theatrics. @EyeRadioJuba
My new publication on Sudan is out. Glad that this timely research is now available to read:

The President has spoken and has called for calm. There won't be any national address. The rest will be taken up by the Chief of Defence Forces and Inspector General of Police.
See you all in the space tonight!!

‼️ BIG REPORT ‼️ from @HRL_YaleSPH catching 3 Chinese made lethal action and electronic warfare drones on the tarmac at RSF-controlled Nyala airport in Darfur, Sudan. HRL also finds cargo activity corroborating reports of multiple transport flights allegedly supplying RSF. SHARE!
On 18 December 2024 White House Coordinator Brett McGurk stated that the UAE is not now supplying weapons to the RSF.
The White House is expected to provide the US Congress with its determination about whether UAE arms transfers are continuing on 17 January 2025.

CPA was signed 20 years ago today. A momentous event. It ended an entrenched war but did not bring lasting peace, neither to Sudan nor South Sudan. Why? Maybe problem was not the agreement but lack of implementation. Peace is not words on paper but political practice – always.
Likewise old friend. It is always stimulating to talk with someone with such a broad set of competences and experiences. Especially good to have this meeting today, 20 years since the signing of the CPA (and since I was returning after a long absence).
Great encounter today in Juba with Dr. Øystein Rolandsen @oysteinhr — a friend and an accomplished scholar on Sudan and South Sudan history. It was truly captivating to share lighted-hearted conversations about our research interests and future trends in the Horn of Africa!

🧵80 years ago today, Germany staged a clever exercise in fake news, scoring one of its best WW2 information-warfare victories.
The result: a disaster in Anglo-American relations that Eisenhower said caused him "more distress and worry than did any similar one of the war". 1/18
"The EU stands ready to consider new restrictive measures against those responsible for sustaining the armed conflict, instability and insecurity in the DRC."
