So true. Testability should be the starting point of every code base. Too many tests never see the light of day due to the lack of a good test rig. Make testing easy! If it's hard it won't be done.

@al94781 Love it! The codebase, decisions and architecture evolves throughout the lifetime of a system/project, but the learning points gets left behind unconsciously. We had our first sit-down today, to reflect on changes made, theire cause and effect, takeaways and the road ahead.

@Java coding habits as I’ve aged:
- small, static private methods when possible (clear inputs/outputs, no instance state)
- private final class variables whenever possible
- constructor injection whenever possible
- I try to avoid public types whenever possible.

@starbuxman @java I prefer to use modules to achieve strict separation of contexts in my code instead of microservices, and not move to ms until I need the technical benefits it provides (scalability, availability and such)

TDD does not take extra time. Writing tests _first_ is not overhead because they force you to think through the problem and partition it properly. You’d have to do that thinking anyway.

Testing after the fact IS overhead because you did all that thinking already.
