OZCAR-RI is the French Network of Critical Zone Observatories dedicated to promoting an integrated scientific approach of the Earth's terrestrial surface
Great paper on root water uptake from bedrock. Congrats to @McCormickEricaL and team on connecting the dots & shedding light into this dark part of the water cycle! Thanks for a great talk by co-author Daniella Rempe promoting it today at the @ozcar_ri-TERENO conference. @CZCNet
The first Ozcar Tereno International Conference has been organised in a hybrid format at Palais des Congrès in Strasbourg - a unique opportunity within @eLTER_Europe to build the science of the Critical Zone in Europe

Past work, such as @IpgpJrme ’s 1999 greatest hit, has shown the power of this method to quantify silicate weathering fluxes & calibrate carbon cycle models. Yet, until now, we lacked a river-specific dive into the theory (see the paper) as well as generic, re-usable code.
New paper! Led by Mathieu Dellinger on “Fractionation of #rhenium#isotopes in the #Mackenzie River basin during oxidative weathering” – the first rhenium isotope data from river water & sediment – and they are different! https://t.co/RVqzagLVCc @NERCscience@ERC_Research …1/5
