I rushed out to buy an ICE car before the manufacturer discontinued it and replaced it with an EV model. So did many others. No one bought the EV replacement. Now the dealer is emailing its ICE buyers with top $ offers for their used cars. They lack stock on their used lot, and no one's interested in their new EV models.

As bad as things are in the West, they are still better than the countries migrants come from. Government handouts in welfare states also act as magnets. For criminals, these high-trust societies and soft-touch policing are easy targets. Take a trip to Africa or India and see for yourself. India needs to create 1 million new jobs a month to absorb the youth entering their job market each year but isn't creating nearly that number. Their approach now is to export young people to other countries, relieving the pressure at home and creating an income stream from inward remittances expatriate Indians send home.

People wanted cradle-to-grave welfare. They wanted government to be our parent, looking after us and keeping us safe. You wanted a big state. You've got it. They printed billions during Covid and now the bills are coming due. Switzerland didn't print. Their mortgage rates are under 1%. Inflation is always caused by government borrowing and spending. Don't forget that. The less you ask government to do for you, the better. Next time someone says the government should do this or that, say no! Reduce the size of government. Shut down departments. Only then will inflation come down. Otherwise, get used to it.

Fun fact: Most of those education and training fees are earned by "students" in Australia by replacing Australians who would have done those jobs for market wages. Those "trained students" then receive a 2-year work visa after graduation. After two years, they receive permanent residency. The monetisation of permanent residency visas via the "education" industry is complete. Big businesses get low-paid workers, so they donate to both political parties to keep the scam going. Delink residency from education and see the number drop precipitously. It was never about education. It was using education as a back door for mass immigration.

Where did it all go, you ask? You tried to de-risk life by outsourcing your safety to the State. You wanted cradle-to-grave welfare. You trusted big government. A government big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take everything you have. You ignored history, assuming your government could grow without becoming oppressive. You let the State educate your children. You believed those clamouring for power did so to serve you, not themselves. You forgot the lesson that made Western civilisation great: capitalism, small government and self-reliance. That's what happened.

While ON is far from having libertarian principles, Australia will be better off than having Greens, Labor and Labor-lite, which is what we currently have.

All immigrants present challenges when they first arrive. But the numbers are incomparable when we are talking about India. India could send Australia's population to every country in the world and still have almost a billion Indians left in India. You cannot have 500,000 coming into Australia every year without changing the fundamental character of Australia. Self-preservation is a right; Australians shouldn't cede that for fear of being called racist or xenophobic.
