In business classrooms and boardrooms, we romanticize first-mover advantage. We assume that whoever starts first will finish first. But history, when examined over the long horizon, teaches a different lesson: what truly matters is first-scaler advantage. It is not the company that invents the category that wins; it is the one that builds the capability, resilience, and trust architecture to scale it. And today, OpenAI appears to be scoring an own-goal at precisely the moment when discipline in scaling matters most.
Remember this: before the iPod, there was the Walkman. Before the iPhone, there was BlackBerry. Before the Apple Watch, there was Pebble. Yet Apple Inc. won those categories because it mastered integration, distribution, ecosystem control, and emotional branding. It did not merely enter markets; it scaled them. Being first gave others visibility. Scaling gave Apple dominance. That distinction explains everything.
OpenAI started first and was winning. ChatGPT had everything a brand could want: first-mover advantage, hundreds of millions of users, cultural relevance, and a mission that made people feel good about adoption. But as the season of scaling begins, it seems to be punting its lead. If it mishandles this phase, it could find itself in real trouble. Scaling is not just about infrastructure and enterprise deals; it is about protecting the intangible asset called trust.
One decision at a time, that trust narrative appears to have weakened. The pivot from nonprofit ideals toward profit maximization unsettled early believers. The introduction of ads after signaling there would be none created cognitive dissonance. A rushed Pentagon deal which has introduced perception risk. These are not engineering issues; they are signaling issues. And markets price signals.
Meanwhile, Claude, built by Anthropic, quietly pursued a different scaling philosophy. It said no to ads, and to defense contracts that conflicted with its positioning. Last weekend, it overtook ChatGPT as the most downloaded app in the U.S. App Store. That is not merely an app-store metric; it is a market signal. Users reward alignment between promise and posture.
Good People, this is a trust story. And trust compounds or decays during the scaling phase. First movers capture attention. First scalers capture markets. If OpenAI forgets that scaling is as much about institutional coherence as product capability, it may discover that being first was never the true advantage. The advantage was always the discipline to scale without breaking the covenant with the market https://t.co/mMyuSSSyrV
If you chart the average number of jobs created monthly in the United States since 2021, a clear downward arc emerges, from the exuberant highs of nearly 600,000 jobs per month to figures now hovering below 100,000. Yet unemployment remains relatively low. This is not necessarily because the economy is booming, but partly because immigration has slowed. Fewer new entrants into the labor force are masking a deeper transformation underway in the U.S. economy, a structural redesign of how work is created, allocated, and performed.
This leads to a more personal and pressing question: what is your Plan B? What is your alternative path in a world where there may simply be fewer traditional jobs? Many assume this shift will not affect them. But evidence from the past 12–18 months suggests something more fundamental: the long-standing connection between earning a good degree and being offered opportunity has weakened, if not broken. And this is not any country specific problem; it is global. Yes, there is a clear correlation between the West’s immigrant antagonism and jobs, as many in those places feel that the future is fading for them.
Why is this happening? Many forces are at play, but technology, especially AI, sits at the center. Recently, it took me just 23 minutes to build and deploy a functional website (afrit .org), from idea to live deployment, using modern AI tools and cPanel. I am not particularly gifted in design; more skilled people could do far better. Yet the point remains: what once required teams, budgets, and time now requires minutes and judgment.
Still, many underestimate what this truly means. AI is often framed as a “technology” issue, when in reality it is becoming a work reallocation issue. As its capabilities compound, the conversation will shift. In a few years, headlines will focus less on what AI enables people to build and more on what it has displaced in the labor market. The excitement around technical possibility will give way to anxiety about livelihoods, as a growing number of people confront a more basic question: how to pay the bills in an AI-shaped economy.
A startup in Lagos recently deployed AI for customer support and account reconciliation, and a leading financial institution subsequently reduced those operational units by over 80%. The entry-level roles that once served as gateways into careers are increasingly being absorbed by software. The result is not just automation, it is dislocation, especially for young professionals whose career mobility depended on those early roles.
The future of work is not a distant conversation. It is already here. The real question is no longer whether jobs will change, but whether individuals have thought deeply enough about how they will remain relevant when they do. https://t.co/fWh9HX0QB1
I sent a rider to go deliver 3 crates of eggs to my mum and cash 30k without telling her I'm sending something to her. The rider got to the destination and handed over the package and cash to her, and told her it was from her son, He mentioned my name (Chibuike) meaning (God is my STRENGTH)
Unfortunately i slept off while waiting to hear from the rider. 😫
Omo i woke up to see 25 missed calls from my sweet mother. 😂
Finally i called her, my mama wan use prayers wound me for over 30 minutes on call with her. The happiness in her voice got me emotional. I love to see her happy and healthy. Na only she i get now. 😊
May our parents live to enjoy the fruit of their labor AMEN. 🧎🙇🙏
Tunde Ednut is the biggest Influencer in Nigeria yet he still support content creators by sharing their content on his page with millions of followers for free to help them grow.
That’s why whenever his page is suspended, he creates another one and in under 24 hours he gained over a million followers. That’s influence!
When you help people grow you’re automatically growing too. But Twitter influencers are doing the opposite.

No matter how rich you are individually as a Nigerian, we are all collectively poor. Very poor.
You only realize this during emergencies. A fire breaks out and there is no fire service. An accident happens and there is no first aid, no ambulance, no system.
Today, a world boxing champion like Anthony Joshua was involved in a car accident and not a single ambulance showed up. Someone that rich and globally known. People only gathered around him like it was a carnival. No safety measures. No trained response. Just chaos.
An accident that claimed two lives o!
Last month, an aide to a sitting governor was stabbed at a political event.. Somebody lifted him on his shoulder ! Such a gory sight!
Still no ambulance
Not even for a governor’s aide.
That is real poverty.
In Nigeria, money does not save you in a crisis. Influence does not protect you. When it matters most, everyone is poor.
To the rich and influential Nigerian who thinks demanding a better country is for the poor masses, one day you will understand. In an emergency, you are just as poor as the rest of us.
Nigeria is poor.
Poor poor.
RIP to the dead and wishing Anthony Joshua quick recovery.
SMART MONEY MOVES FOR YOUNG NIGERIANS AHEAD OF 2026 👏🔥
As we approach 2026, young Nigerians need to be intentional, disciplined and realistic about money. The economy is changing fast, so here’s practical financial advice that fits our current reality:
1. Master a Skill Before Chasing Big Money
Degrees alone are no longer enough. Learn high-income skills like tech, digital marketing, design, data, trades or any skill that solves real problems. Skills give you leverage and protect you against unemployment.
2. Live Below Your Means
Avoid pressure to “look successful.” Many people flex with loans and debt. Build the habit of spending less than you earn, no matter how small your income is. Financial peace starts with discipline, not salary size.
3. Save First, Not What’s Left
Make saving a habit even if it’s small. Emergency savings can protect you from borrowing during tough times. Consistency matters more than amount.
4. Avoid Bad Debt
Debt for luxury, lifestyle or validation will delay your future. If you must borrow, ensure it’s for something that can increase your earning power not impress people.
5. Start Investing With Knowledge
Don’t rush into investments because of hype. Learn first. Understand what you’re putting money into…business, agriculture, stocks or any venture. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
6. Multiple Income Streams Matter
Relying on one source of income is risky. Side hustles, freelancing or small businesses can provide stability and growth over time. My friend @pbtips_ says nothing is wrong with having 16 streams of income.
7. Build Integrity and Patience
Quick money often comes with long-term consequences. Build wealth slowly, honestly and sustainably. Your reputation will outlive any cash.
8. Plan for the Long Term
Think ahead…health, insurance, skills upgrade and personal development. Wealth is not just about money but it’s about security, options and peace of mind.
In summary, Don’t rush. Don’t compare. Learn, save, invest wisely and stay disciplined. The young Nigerians who will thrive in 2026 are those preparing now, not those chasing shortcuts.
Be guided accordingly.
