France has accepted Alexei Moskalev and his daughter Masha with humanitarian visas. They were trageted by the authorities after Masha drew an anti-war picture in school. Alexei served two years in prison on charges of “discrediting” the Russian army.

After Alexei Moskalev's release, he and his daughter moved to Armenia. They planned to obtain a humanitarian visa for Germany, but it stopped issuing such documents. Their move to France was fascilitated by lawyer Dmitry Zakhatov and the human rights organization InTransit.
