🗣️FIFA, my friends… we need to have a serious conversation.
You organize the biggest tournament in the world. You talk endlessly about “respect”, “fair play”, “education through football”, and “legacy for the next generation”.

🗣️Then what do we see?
In Uruguay vs Cape Verde, a player goes over to “help” an opponent who is cramping on the floor… only to drop his leg like a piece of rubbish the second his team wins the ball and starts a counter-attack. They score. Game on. Sportsmanship? Out the window.

🗣️Yesterday, England vs Ghana. Spence refuses to shake hands with Thomas Partey during the pre-match line-up. The rest of the team does it. He doesn’t. Professional respect? Apparently only when it’s convenient.

🗣️This is not football.
This is not the game I grew up loving.
This is not what we should be showing to millions of kids watching around the world.

🗣️FIFA, you have the power. You have the platform. You have the money. Where is the strong message? Where is the education programme that actually means something? Where is the leadership that says: “On the pitch and off the pitch, we respect the opponent, we respect the game, we respect the values”?

🗣️Because right now, it looks like talk only. And football without real respect is just another business.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Respect. Respect. Respect.
If we lose that, we lose everything.

🚨JUST IN: Thierry Henry says this World Cup is more political than any and it is looking like a "mess", the Canada government denying Thomas Partey [who has not being proven guilty yet] entry, USA denying Iran supporters and Somali referee Omar Artan a chance to participate in the WC is wrong and the fact that Fifa is doing absolutely nothing about it makes it even worse.

🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Ghana's government strongly disagrees with Canada's decision of not allowing Thomas Partey in their country, and has asked Canadian authorities to reconsider.

Ghana's Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, said the decision is based on "very weak grounds" because being charged with a crime does not mean someone is guilty.

He pointed out that Partey is still free to live and travel in England while awaiting trial, and said it is surprising that Canada is treating the charges as if they were a conviction.
